Area of Greatest Need

The Fund for Providence College – Area of Greatest Need (PC Fund) is the most direct and powerful way to have an immediate impact on the current student experience, boosting the college’s ability to address time-sensitive, student-focused needs. These gifts support every aspect of the PC experience, including universal access to textbooks, abundant mental health resources, retaining committed faculty members, campus ministry programming, and student intramural programs.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The college’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion requires funding to support various educational programs and training, inclusive classroom and pedagogy workshops, and cross-campus and community collaboration. Emergency Student Support

Every year there are students who encounter financial emergencies — whether due to death or illness, loss of employment of a parent or guardian, or other unexpected hardship. Gifts through The Fund for Providence College (the Angel Fund) – Emergency Student Support are dedicated to addressing unexpected life events, allowing PC to respond to students’ urgent needs and ensuring they can continue their education with limited interruption.

Financial Aid

Gifts made through The Fund for Providence College – Financial Aid provide financial assistance for undergraduate students. Unrestricted funds to support financial aid through The Fund for Providence College – Financial Aid lessen the burden for families and reliance on the endowment to meet the needs of our students. Since annual fund gifts are meant to be spent in the given year, they make an immediate impact for today’s students.

Varsity Athletics

Gifts entrusted to the college through The Fund for Providence College – Varsity Athletics (the Friars Forever Fund) help shape the lives of all our student-athletes. Every gift makes a difference and together these gifts provide the resources and support necessary to give our student-athletes a first-class experience both in the classroom and on the field of play.

Other Areas to Support

Academics and Programs

Providence College’s commitment to academic excellence is at the heart of the PC’s liberal arts education. It defines our signature Development of Western Civilization Program, strengthens our distinctive Core Curriculum, supports small class sizes and 12:1 student to faculty ratio and fosters close collaboration between faculty and students. Every gift made to support academics and programs — in the four schools, at the programmatic level or through The Fund for Providence College – Area of Greatest Need — serves this aim.

Catholic & Dominican Mission

Catholic and Dominican Identity

A gift to strengthen Providence College’s Catholic and Dominican identity supports the college’s commitment to fostering spiritual growth, ethical inquiry, and a deepened sense of community. Your contribution can be directed through The Fund for Providence College – Area of Greatest Need, providing flexible and immediate-use resources, or to specific initiatives that uphold the traditions shaping our shared values, inspiring thoughtful reflection, and encouraging a life of purpose rooted in faith.

Endowed Scholarships & Programs

An endowed scholarship or program is a permanent scholarship or program named in honor of the donor or in honor or memory of another individual, such as a family member, a Dominican friar, or a PC classmate. Recipients are selected by the Office of Financial Aid. For more information about endowing a scholarship or program, please email giving@providence.edu.

Research & Engaged Learning

PC students have access to a wide array of engaged learning opportunities that allow them to put knowledge learned in the classroom into action in the real world. Gifts to support specific program areas or opportunities, as well as gifts through The Fund for Providence College – Area of Greatest Need, enable students to benefit from internships, study abroad, or other engaged learning opportunities including research, service learning, and social justice advocacy.
